New Delhi: Welcoming the decision of Bombay High Court's Aurangabad Division Bench regarding the Tablighi Jamaat, Maulana Arshad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, said that this decision supports the Jamiat's stand regarding the mind-set of administration and media negative propaganda towards Tablighi Jamaat.
"Due to the biased attitude of the administration and the poisonous propaganda of some media houses towards the Tablighi Jamaat, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has filed a petition against the media in Supreme Court, the next hearing of which is expected on August 26," said Madani said.
Maulana Madani further said that the media should work for the unity of the country, social harmony, brotherhood, and religious tolerance among Hindus and Muslims, not to spread hatred.
"However, a large section of the media has been deliberately trying to give a religious colour to every incident, to undermine the unity of Hindus and Muslims, and to defame Muslims. The attitude of the media towards the Tablighi Jamaat in the months of March and April is a living example of this. A section of the media deliberately conspired to defame Muslims under the pretext of Corona and spread poison against them," he said.
"Therefore, if the unbridled and irresponsible media is not cracked down on, it will be disastrous for the country. But the government has been a silent spectator to this double standard of the media, which is very unfortunate," Madani added.
