J&K: 2 security personnel, 4 civilians injured in grenade attack

Two security force personnel and four civilians were injured on Tuesday afternoon after militants lobbed a grenade at the joint party of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police deployed in Pakherpora market of Srinagar.

Srinagar: Two security force personnel and four civilians were injured in a grenade attack at Pakherpora area of central Kashmir's Budgam district, officials said on Tuesday.

"At around 12:30 pm, militants lobbed a grenade at the joint party of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police deployed in Pakherpora market," Pankaj Singh, a CRPF Spokesperson based in Srinagar told ETV Bharat.

He further said, "Constable Santosh Kumar of 181BN CRPF and ASI Ghulam Rasool alias Dilawar of Jammu and Kashmir Police were injured in the attack. Four pedestrians also sustained minor splinter injuries during the incident."

"All injured were taken to nearby Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pakherpora for treatment where their condition is said to be stable," the spokesperson added.

According to doctors at SDH Pakherpora, all the four injured civilians have been referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment.

"Today we received six patients with splinter injuries. Two security personnel and four civilians. The injured civilians, two men and two women, have been referred to SMHS hospital for treatment. They are doing well but advanced checkup was necessary," a doctor at (SDH) Pakherpora said on the condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, a joint team of CRPF, J&K Police, and Indian Army have launched a search operation to nab the attackers.
