New Delhi: The The Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC), constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to inquire into the styrene leakage from a storage tank in LG Polymers, submitted its report stating that the incident occurred because of "gross negligence" on the part of employees.
According to the report, the employees had failed to prevent the accident even as they noticed the symptoms of danger. It has made clear that serious human error, negligence of responsible authorities and management failures are the main causes of the accident.
The Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) submitted its report on Thursday.
The JMC was led by former High Court judge B. Seshasayana Reddy and comprised of Ch.V. Rama Chandra Murthy, former Principal of Andhra Medical College, P. Jagannadha Rao, Professor of chemical engineering in Andhra University, K.V. George, Scientist at NEERI-Nagpur, and Shaik Basha, Scientist and Head of CSIR-NEERI, Hyderabad.
