Varanasi: Italian journalist Francesca Marino has raised a question on the laxity of the police administration in Varanasi by accusing the department of bribery. In a series of tweets to Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Smriti Irani, the international journalist said that Bhelupur police has conspired against her family members in a fake case of domestic violence.
What is the whole matter!
Francesca Marino stated that her adopted brother Ram was recently married to a girl from Banaras but soon Ram's wife denied to settle with him. After denial, Ram sought divorce but on the contrary, she demanded the refund of marriage expenses costing up to Rs 7 Lakh.
When Ram refused to pay her the amount, she along with Bhelupur police officials filed a case of dowry and domestic violence on both the siblings.
The journalist tried to reach the Bhelupur police personnel and alleged that she was not provided with the copy of the FIR and asked help from the ministers on social media.
After Marino's accusation gained momentum, SSP Anand Kulkarni connected to her through social media and provided his UGC number for direct conversation.

"This whole case is being investigated. And action will be taken against everyone found guilty. We have also replaced the investigation officer," Anil Kumar, CO Bhelupur said.
Marino came to limelight after Indian Air Force's airstrike in Balakot in February 2019. The journalist claimed the death of 170 Pakistani terrorists during the attack.
