ISI-run espionage ring busted in Rajasthan's Barmer, one arrested

In a major breakthrough, Rajasthan police have arrested Mustaq for his involvement with Pakistan's ISI. According to information, Mustaq used to work as an agent for ISI and provided important military information to his handlers in Pakistan.

Barmer: Based on the specific inputs by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Special Operations Group (SOG), Rajasthan Police on Tuesday arrested one person and busted espionage ring being run by officials to probe his links with Pakistan-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The arrested person has been identified as Mustaq, who has alleged links with Pakistan worked as an espionage agent for ISI. Mustaq's father Khattu Khan was earlier arrested for his involvement in smuggling fake currencies worth Rs 6.5 crore. Heroin worth Rs 3 crore was also seized from his possession. Security has been tightened along the Western Front of the country due to major military installations in the area.

"We have arrested Khattu's son Mustaq to probe his link with ISI. We received certain intelligence inputs from ATS and SOG," said SP Anand Sharma.

A detailed investigation has revealed that Mustaq was sharing confidential information related to Indian Army bases which were passed on to ISI. According to the information, 40-year-old accused had sent border pictures and military-related information of the restricted border areas to his handlers in Pakistan. It was also found through Mustaq's email account that he had shared military information to one of the ISI officers.

According to the sources, the Rajasthan ATS was reportedly monitoring Mustaq for past one year and he was arrested on specific inputs from the central intelligence agencies. Cops had also learnt that he had five facebook accounts and he often visited Pakistan. Many Pakistanis are part of his friend lists on these Facebook accounts.
