IRCTC suspends Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express

The Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) a PSU of the Ministry of Railways, has announced that it will cancel the operations of both Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains. In a statement issued by the IRCTC, it said," The management has decided to cancel all departures of IRCTC Tejas trains due to low occupancy levels resulting from coronavirus(Covid-19) pandemic."

New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has decided to suspend its operations of Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains due to low occupancy.

According to an official statement, all departures of IRCTC Tejas trains have been cancelled due to low occupancy levels resulting from coronavirus(Covid-19) pandemic. The company will review its decision after seeing the occupancy level of other trains of Indian Railways operating in both these routes.

Ahmedabad-Mumbai(82901/82902) Tejas express will remain cancelled from 24 November, whereas, The Lucknow-New Delhi(82501/82502) Tejas Express will remain cancelled from 23 November, it said.

Notably, IRCTC earlier decided to re-start Tejas Train services after 210 days for catering to the growing demand of the people. The train services were halted in March owing to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Meanwhile, experiencing poor passenger numbers due to the COVID-19 threat, Tejas trains- Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express have been cancelled.

Railways' catering and e-ticketing arm informed that the Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express will remain cancelled from November 23 and Ahmedabad-Mumbai will remain cancelled from November 24.

IRCTC will review its decision after seeing the occupancy level of other trains of Indian Railways operating in both these routes, it added.
