Hyderabad: International Mother’s Day scheduled to be celebrated on May 10 would not be the same this time around as the world continues to fight the deadly coronavirus pandemic which has affected over four million people and claimed 276,181 lives globally.
The pandemic has proven to be yet another occasion when mothers have shown exemplary courage, determination, and compassion, not just towards their family but the society as well.
Here are a few incidents proving a mother’s grit
Mom rides 1,400 km on scooter to get her son home:
Razia Begum, a teacher residing in Telangana’s Nizamabad area, braved the stringent lockdown norms and rode 1,400 km on her two-wheeler to bring her son back home from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Karnataka nurse breaks down upon seeing her crying daughter
In an emotional video, a little girl, seated in front of her father's motorcycle, is seen waving and crying as she looks at her mother who is standing inside a hospital in north Karnataka's Belagavi. Her mother is a nurse who is on the frontline of the battle against coronavirus and hasn't gone home or met her family for over 15 days. The young mother, helpless, is unable to control her tears. She waves goodbye and turns the other away from her daughter and husband.
The 29-second video was tweeted by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
IAS officer returns to work, joins fight against Covid-19 with 1-month- old baby
IAS officer and Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner (GVMC) G Srijana, who was working in her office till just before her delivery, returned to work within 22 days of giving birth to a baby boy.
These are just a few examples of the kind of sacrifices a mother makes on a daily basis and surely does not suffice to explain her greater role in the world.
