New Delhi: The President of International Council of Jurists and the chairman of All India Bar Association, Dr Adish C Aggarwala has written to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) filing a complaint against China accusing it of committing "grave offences against the humanity throughout the world".
He pleaded that UNHRC should enquire against China, asking it to compensate the international community for developing a bioweapon of mass destruction.
Listing out the series of the incidents which led to the spread of the COVID-19, Aggarwala said that it's a conspiracy of the Chinese government "aimed at catapulting itself to the position of a superpower of the World and undermining other countries through biological warfare." Alleging that China has violated various charters and guidelines of the United Nations endangering the lives of millions of people across the globe and putting the businesses at standstill.
Aggarwala also accused China of violating Article 25(1) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 12 of International Covenant on economic, social and cultural rights and International Health Regulations and said that the country is legally liable under the "Responsibility of States For Internationally Wrongful Acts,2001."
"The authorised censorship and threats used by the Chinese government to deter people from publicly speaking about the spread of the new virus along with the tardiness and irresponsibility of the public authorities have resulted in this rapid worldwide spread of the virus. As of today, the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has affected 877,584 people worldwide causing over 50,000 deaths and has affected almost all countries in the world," said Aggarwala.
He also raised the question of how it did not spread to Beijing, Shanghai and other important cities as much as the virus has spread rapidly around the world and why did airport authorities in Wuhan allow passengers to travel all over the world. The business and industrial aspects of China in the important cities seem to be functioning without any disruption in production or consumption while in the case of other countries it has been impacted adversely.
"The Chinese government has meticulously planned the execution and spread of the coronavirus and the same can be inferred in the way China has taken regard of the situation as also of the curious case of spread of the virus all over the world," read the letter.
He also alleged that China has done this in order to control the world economy. The stocks of the trade companies from Europe and the USA that are based in China, the share value of these stocks have fallen but the share value of Chinese companies is in a very good state.
