New Delhi: The 7th International Conference on "Phytopathology in achieving UN Sustainable Development goals" is being organized at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa in the national capital on Thursday.
The Indian Phytopathological society along with 12 prominent plant protection institutions from across the country and overseas have observed the year 2020 as the International year for plant health.
They plan to bring the world plant pathologists and scientists on a common forum to discourse the issue related to plant pathogens, the diseases they cause, the threat they pose to global a brick and methods and strategies to combat them.

According to an estimate, 25% of global crop loss is caused due to plant diseases and in India, this goes up to 26%. The President of Indian Phytopathological Society emphasised on the need of Phytopathology to achieve UN sustainable development goals while addressing the gathering.
As many as 600 delegates from across the country including 48 from foreign countries will be participating in the five-day-long conference and share their ideas on the global issue.
