4 Indian scientist have won Nobel Prize so far. Dr C V Raman( Indian Physicist), Har Gobind Khorana (Indo-American Biochemist) Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (Indo-American Astrophysicist) and Venkatraman Ramakrishnan (Indian-British-American Structural Biologist.)

Scientists who won Nobel Prize for their achievements in the field of science:-

Dr C V Raman, Indian Physicist, known for Raman effect or Raman Scattering. This is the inelastic scattering of photons by matter. In turn, this implies that exchange of energy will take place. Along with this, a change in the light's direction will also happen.

Har Gobind Khorana, Indian-American Biochemist, known for his achievements in Physiology or Medicine. The research resulted in depicting the order of nucleotides in nucleic acids. These carry the genetic code of the cell. These also help in controlling the cell's synthesis of proteins.

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Indian-American Astrophysicist, known his outstanding work in theoretical studies of the physical processes of importance to the structure and evolution of the stars.
