New Delhi: The Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Vinay Kumar met the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah in Kabul and held talks on enhancing cooperation between the two countries and maintaining peace in the militancy-hit country.
The two leaders held deliberations on a host of issues, including strengthening of bilateral cooperation, dialogue, and the upcoming presidential elections in Afghanistan. But, talks on peace and stability in the country dominated the meet.
With the growing claws of resurrected Taliban in Afghanistan, both sides consulted closely on the evolving situation in the country.
Stability in Afghanistan is of strategic importance for India's entry into Eurasia, and with the Taliban's flourishing so close to the Indian territory doesn't favour its plan.

Three days ago, during Chinese Special Envoy Ambassador Deng Xijun visit to India, both the countries had agreed to work closely on the ongoing efforts to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Earlier this year, India had signed 11 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Afghanistan for 26 projects worth 9.5 million dollars. These projects include the construction of classrooms, the building of orphanages, health clinics, canal protection walls and enhancing economic opportunities for women. These projects will be developed in 7 provinces of Afghanistan-- Balkh, Ghor, Herat, Kabul, Bamyan, Badghis and Kapisa.
Since 2001, India has undertaken projects worth over $2 billion in Afghanistan.
