New Delhi: The Siachen brigade of Indian Army was felicitated on Tuesday by the Sant Eshwar Foundation, in association with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), for its notable contribution towards environmental preservation.
The Siachen glacier which has turned a dumping site was cleaned by the Indian Army. The brigade in recent drives has cleared more than a hundred tonnes of biodegradable and non-biodegradable trash from the glacier.
As a mark of appreciation, the Indian Army on Tuesday was lauded with honour for taking equal part in saving the environment as well as serving the nation.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Joint General Secretary Dr Krishna Gopal along with Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel were chief guests at the event.
