New Delhi: Even as India has registered more than 28700 COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, the country's rapid recovery rate is still giving a sigh of relief.

India has more than 5.5 lakh recovered cases, exceeds cases by more than 2.5 lakh. Interestingly, 19 states have a higher recovery rate than the national average of 63.02 per cent.

Statistics in the Health Ministry said that 30 states have a lower fatality rate than the national average of 2.64 per cent.

Almost all the northeastern states have a fatality rate of less than 2.09 per cent. Chhatisgarh has less than 1.7 per cent fatality rate, Kerala 1.43 per cent.

Officials said that pro-active, pre-emptive and coordinated steps taken by the centre and state government for containment and prevention of COVID-19 have contributed to a gradual surge in COVID-19 recovery.

"Aggressive testing coupled with a timely diagnosis had led to identifying COVID-19 affected patients before they progress into an advanced stage of the disease," officials said.

The norms and standards of care for home isolation along with oxy-meters have helped to keep a check on the asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients, officials said.

As many as 18850 people have been recovered in the last 24 hours talking to the total recovery number to 553470.

As many as 219103 people were tested in the last 24 hours taking the total number to 1,18,06,256. Testing number in India per million population has crossed in 8555.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry in a letter issued to the States and UTs has said that the rate for RT-PCR test for COVID-19 prescribed by the ICMR or the rate prescribed for the state by the concerned State Government or actual, whichever may be lower, shall be admissible for reimbursement for central services (medical attendance) beneficiaries.

The private hospitals empanelled under CS (MA) Rule, 1944/CGHS and approved for undertaking the test shall perform the investigation after the same has been advised as per the prevalent ICMR protocols by any specialist of a government hospital.
