'India, UAE partnership in solar energy sector would be a good move'

UAE has shown interest to work with India in solar energy sector. Minister for Energy and Industry of the UAE says they could be a big player in the filed of solar energy in India.

New Delhi: Suhail bin Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, Minister for Energy and Industry of United Arab Emirates (UAE), has said that his country is eager to work with India in the solar energy sector.

"We believe, with India, we can play a big role in this sector. So, we welcome any partnership with India in this regard," Mazrouei told ETV Bharat here.

Mazrouei was in the national capital to take part in the second assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

With as many as 83 countries on board, the ISA aims to promote solar energy use and address common challenges of member countries.

The ISA also aims to fight against climate change.

The UAE wants to increase its business with India, whereas India expects it to invest more in the country.

The Arabian entities have recently agreed to invest up to USD 7 billion in India's food sector in the next three years.

They plan to invest up to US$ 5 billion in mega food parks and similar facilities in various Indian cities, and up to US$ 2 billion in contract farming.

Conclusion:UAE being a neighbouring country of Saudi Arabia, it also wants to further increase its business opportunities with India.

India on the otherhand looks upon UAE for major investment. The Arabian entities have recently agreed to invest up to USD 7 billion in India's food sector in the next three years.
