Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 16 National Highways projects in Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rainfall and strong wind warning over Maharashtra for today. Here is a heads up for the important national events to look for today.

1. Gadkari to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 16 NH projects in Andhra Pradesh today

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 16 National Highways projects in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The total length of the projects is 1,411 kms with worth Rs 15,592 crore. Projects for the inauguration include 4-laning of Kadapa-Mydukur-Kurnool Section of NH 40 of worth Rs 2,075 crore, 6-laning of Ranasthalam-Anandapuram section of NH-16 of worth Rs 1,470 crore, Rehabilitation and Up-gradation of Eepurpalem- Ongole Section from km 195+00 to 254+500 of NH-214A (NH216) to two-lane with paved shoulders worth Rs 574.19 crore among others.

2. Karnataka CM to conduct meeting on flood-affected areas

As rain continues to batter Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has called for a review meeting via videoconferencing with the deputy commissioners and senior officials of the flood-affected districts on Friday. Yediyurappa told reporters that compensations and funds, required for rehabilitation, will be released soon after the district in-charge ministers visit respective places and give reports.

3. Kerala to decide on approaching SC against Centre on GST compensation

Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that some states are likely to approach the Supreme Court against Centre's two borrowing options for GST compensation, and Kerala will take the final decision on the matter on Friday in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

4. IMD issues rainfall, strong wind warning over Maharashtra today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rainfall and strong wind warning over Maharashtra for today. It also said that there can be damage to crops and disruption of daily activities in the affected areas. According to IMD, the well marked low pressure area over south Madhya Maharashtra and neighbourhood moved westwards and lay over south Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining south Konkan.
