1. Supreme Court to hear petitions filed seeking modification of order on Rath Yatra today
The Supreme Court is set to hear four petitions seeking a modification to its June 18 order to stay the Puri 'Rath Yatra' in view the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde had earlier ruled that such gatherings cannot take place at the time of the pandemic.
2. CM Gehlot to launch coronavirus awareness drive today
Rajasthan government to launch a Coronavirus awareness campaign among people in over 11,000 villages on Monday. The campaign will cover 11,500 village panchayats from June 21 to 30 June. During the launch of the campaign through a video conference, the chief minister will address villagers.
3. DDMA's crucial meeting to be held today to check COVID-19 spread in Delhi
A crucial meeting of the Delhi Diaster Management Authority will be held today wherein important decisions such as effective contact tracing are likely to be taken. Lt Governor Anil Baijal, who is also the DDMA chairman, has called the meeting. The national capital on Sunday recorded 3,000 fresh novel coronavirus cases, taking the COVID-19 tally in the city near the 60,000-mark, while the death toll due to the disease increased to 2,175.
4. Rajnath Singh's three-day visit to Russia starts from today
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will pay a three-day visit to Russia beginning Monday. The Minister is expected to attend a grand military parade in Moscow, which was earlier scheduled on May 9, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The grand parade marks the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Germany in the Second World War.
