IAF to induct Apache Guardian attack choppers next month

After signing a deal over three and a half years ago, the first batch of Apache Guardian attack helicopters will be inducted into the Indian Air Force next month. The Defence Ministry had finalised the order for production, training and support of 22 Apache attack helicopters in 2015.

New Delhi: In a move which is set to strengthen India's defence forces, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will officially induct the first batch of Apache attack helicopters into the Indian Air Force next month.

According to reports, Apache choppers, being purchased from the United States, will be formally inducted on September 3 at the Pathankot airbase near the western border of the country.

Besides, the first batch consisting of four such choppers have arrived at the Hindan airbase in Ghaziabad.

The AH-64E helicopters, the latest variants of the Apache, have a wide range of capabilities customised to meet IAF's requirements.

The choppers can carry out reconnaissance for security and peacekeeping operations. The system can also transmit and receive images from the ground. In addition to this, 70 mm rockets and anti-tank-missiles adds to its firepower.

The Defence Ministry had finalised the order for production, training and support of 22 Apache attack helicopters in 2015.

Additionally, the Defence Ministry in 2017 approved the procurement of six Apache helicopters along with weapons systems from Boeing at a cost of Rs 4,168 crore for the Army. This will be its first fleet of attack choppers.

Fuselages for this Army order will be produced by Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited, a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems in Hyderabad.

नई दिल्ली: केंद्र की मोदी सरकार ने देश की सुरक्षा को मद्देनज़र रखते हुए रक्षा सौदों को प्राथमिकता दी है और इसी कड़ी में विश्व का पहला अटैक हेलीकाप्टर माना जाने वाला अपाचे- 64E भारतीय वायुसेना के बेड़े में अगले महीने शामिल होने वाला है.

अपाचे हेलीकॉप्टर को देश की पश्चिमी सीमा से नज़दीक पठानकोट एयरबेस में 3 सिंतबर को औपचारिक तौर पर शामिल किया जाएगा और इन्हें वायुसेना की खास ज़रूरतों को देखते हुए अमेरिका से खरीदा गया है और ऐसे कुल 22 हेलिकॉप्टर आने हैं जिसमे से 4 को अभी हिंडन एयरबेस में रखा गया है.

अगर विशेषज्ञों की माने तो अपाचे एक बहुत ही घातक मशीन है जिसे दिन और रात में प्रयोग में लाया जा सकता है और इसे बाकियों से खास बनाता है. इस हेलीकॉप्टर में ऐसी प्रणाली है जिससे तस्वीरों को ट्रांसमिट किया जा सकता है. इसके साथ ही इससे 70 मिमी के राकेट और एन्टी टैंक मिसाइल दागी जा सकती हैं.

अगर अपाचे की खूबियों की बात करे तो इसे दुनिया का सबसे घातक हेलीकाप्टर माना जाता है जिन्हें किसी भी मिशन के लिए कभी भी तयार किया जा सकता है. इसके साथ ही इन्हें पहाड़ी इलाकों में भी इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है और दुश्मनो के ठिकानों पर अचूक निशाना लगाकर उन्हें ध्वस्त किया जा सकता है.
