Hyderabad (Telangana): A 38-year-old woman from Hyderabad, Telangana was repatriated to India by the Indian Embassy after being allegedly trafficked to Kuwait by an Indian agent on the pretext of a well-paid job in the middle-eastern country, but was eventually forced to work as a maid.
The victim was looking for a job, when an agent, allegedly hailing from the Pahadi Shareef area of Telangana, approached her with an employment opportunity in a beauty parlour in Kuwait and assured her of a monthly salary worth Rs. 30,000.
But, as she reached the Arab nation, the woman was forced to work as domestic help and was abused and denied basic necessities.
"I was tortured by my employee there, I informed my daughter about my ordeal. I was rescued by the government and the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, ” said the victim.
She further said, "an agent had approached me and offered a beautician’s job in a saloon in Kuwait. He had said they will pay me Rs 30,000 per month. When I went there, they employed me as a housemaid and tortured me.”

“They used to thrash me and inflict burns on me. They did not even give me proper food or clothes,” she added.
The victim's daughter had approached the Indian Embassy on April 25 and was repatriated to India on June 17.
