How to curb sugar cravings during lockdown

Sipping water instead of sugary drinks helps to curb sugar cravings. Apple Cider Vinegar may also help in controlling sugar craving to a certain extent. Likewise, Ms Divya Gupta is suggesting some food habits which can help largely in curbing sugar cravings.

In order to curb sugar cravings during lockdown, Ms Divya Gupta, Consultant Nutritionist and Diabetes Educator is suggesting the following:-

Hydration

  • Sipping water instead of sugary drinks.
  • Limit unnecessary snacking and excess calories.

Ms Divya further says, "A lot of time you’ll find yourself searching your fridge for something full of sugar and carbs because you want to eat something but in reality you’re not hungry and all you needed was a glass of water"

Protein-rich food

Protein rich food gives you a feeling of satiety like boiled eggs, cottage cheese ( paneer) ,tofu, beans, fat free yogurt , chicken breast ,etc

Drink apple cider vinegar(ACV)

Daily intake of ACV reduces blood sugar Levels. Add one or two tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar to a large bottle of water and drink it gradually throughout the day. This will help reduce your sugar cravings to an extent.

Have fruits

Fruits are loaded with healthy vitamins, minerals and fats. Since summers are here, take advantage of the fruits available in the summer and eat one every time you crave for some artificial sugar.

Ms Divya Gupta recommends that it is a good option to Stock some healthy snacks.

Even if we are eating healthy proteins, fiber and fats during the meals but loading up on sugars in between the meals will make a difference.

So instead of eating chocolates or chips between your meals , try adding some healthy snacks like nuts , makhanas, fruits, rice puffs.

Fiber- rich food

Fiber rich food is filling and also suppresses Hunger. ( Eg: fruits, Vegetables, oats). You can make fruit chat, salads, soups etc
