Hospitals in Kashmir to admit patients without paper work: Ministry of Health

Union Health Ministry has claimed that patients will be admitted without any documentation procedures in hospitals across the valley. Cancer patients in the valley have seen a steady decline in the number of cases as people find it difficult to access facilities due to restrictions imposed. Security forces continued to be deployed to maintain law and order.

New Delhi: Admitting the that fact there were partial shutdown in internet system in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that hospitals across the region will give treatment to the patients without any documentation procedure.

"There is a connectivity problem in some parts of JK. We have asked the hospitals to admit patience even without papers. They can do the documentation work later," said Dr Indu Bhushan, CEO, National Health Authority.

Addressing the media, Bhushan also said that services are not being hempered and residents are using the insurance services in the valley.

Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and his team were addressing the media to commemorate the 1-year celebration of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

The Health Ministry has also asked Delhi, Odisha, Telangana and West Bengal to join in the AB-PMJAY mission. The Ministry also said that the states would get resources, national portability, state of the art technological platforms, implementation systems and world class analytics system at no additinal costs.

"By not participating in the mega health scheme these states are not getting anything," said Dr Bhushan.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had recently wrote letters to the Chief Ministers of these four states to take part in national health flagship scheme AB-PMJAY.

Launched in September 2018, AB-PMJAY also dubbed as Modicare, is one of the worlds largest healthcare scheme, aims to provide free health insurance of Rs 5 lakh per family to nearly 40 per cent of the population.

As Kashmir enters 43 days after the modification of provisions relating to Article 370, a tense situation prevails, especially as the healthcare services stand affected raising serious concerns.

"We have implemented Information Technology in our endeavour to make the scheme totally corruption free," he said. He said that 92 hospitals across India have been depanneled for their involvement in corruption.
