New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday proposed to modify Article 370 of the Indian Constitution in the Rajya Sabha. Article 370 gives special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement was made amid an unprecedented lockdown and flaring tensions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking exclusively to ETV Bharat, former Member of Parliament Murli Manohar Joshi said, "It is a brave and historic decision taken by the Modi government. I must congratulate Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this bold move."
He further said that the modification of Article 370 not only boost the security in the valley but also boost the economy of the Kashmir.
Commenting on the opposition's statement of putting 'Kashmiriyat' in the danger, he said, "I request all the opposition parties to suggest some measures so that Kashmiriyat would be implemented in a better way."
He further added that the government should think of the ways to settle the Kashmiri Pandits' issue in the valley so that the beauty of the Kashmiri culture remain in the valley, as it was in the late 90s.
