Hindu seers to anoint Lord Shashank Shekhar marking beginning of Ram temple construction

In what many believe to be a move marking the beginning of the process of building the Ram temple, the seers from Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas will be holding a prayer meeting to anoint Lord Shashank Shekhar, a form of Lord Shiva, at the Ram Janmabhoomi on June 10.

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): The seers from Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas will be holding a prayer meeting to anoint Lord Shashank Shekhar, a form of Lord Shiva, at the Ram Janmabhoomi on June 10.

The move holds significance as many believe that the ceremony would mark the beginning of the construction of the Ram temple at what is believed to be Lord Ram's birthplace in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.

"Went to the mound this morning and saw God Shashank Shekhar's idol and hence we decided to organise a prayer meeting and begin the construction of the temple, " Mahant Kamal Nayan Das - a senior member of Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas and successor to Nritya Gopal Das told ETV Bharat.

The ceremony, which would begin at 8 am and last for two hours, is expected to be attended, senior Hindu seers.

It is believed that Lord Ram himself had anointed Lord Shiva at the very spot before visiting Lanka to rescue his wife Sita.

The announcement has come just a day after a number of architects decided to make their presentations for the design of the Ram temple complex to senior functionaries of the temple trust - Sri Ramjanmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust - in the coming week, marking the beginning of the process of building the temple.

Larsen and Toubro, a leading construction company has already stationed a small team in Ayodhya and is set to get the job to construct the temple complex.

Most of the seers hope for the temple construction to be completed by Ram Navami in 2022.
