Hyderabad: Coronavirus is threatening people of all nationalities and age groups. The only way to stop the contagion is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Looking for the perfect way to spend three weeks of lockdown? Krishnadiseshu Pentapati, retired Engineer and Vastu expert has shared tips on making the best use of these three weeks.
Indoor work-outs
It is hard to stay idle at home for several days together. To be strong mentally and physically during this time, you can devote some time to exercise and yoga. It is good to do light exercises. If you are bored with exercise, tapping your feet to music can be a great idea too.
Revisiting all memories...
Since the entire family stays home, you can go through the old family albums. School and college days, weddings, memories with friends can be reminisced by revisiting old photos. You can show them to your children and grandchildren. You can explain about the old traditions and customs through these photos.
Spend quality time together
Remember the initial days of your marriage, how you and your spouse were very fond of each other. Those moments became rarer as your responsibilities increased. Now is the time to make time for each other again. Help your wife with cooking and household chores. Appreciate her culinary skills. By sharing the work, you will be setting the right example to your kids.
Care for plants
Gardening is a favourite pastime for most of us. Those who could not devote enough time due to work constraints can utilize this isolation time. Caring for plants needs no social interaction. Hence, it is the perfect hobby during this lockdown. You can grow vegetables in terraces or balconies.
Stay connected
Most of us have little time to call or talk to friends and family. Now you have enough time at your disposal. Pick your phone, call your friends and distant relatives, ask them how they are doing. Reminisce your childhood memories! Share precautions and information about the coronavirus!
Spend time with kids
In joint families, grandmothers and grandfathers narrate stories to their grandchildren. This is a rarity nowadays, thanks to nuclear families. Though some parents want to spend time with their kids, their work commitments leave them no time. Make use of this period to tell stories to your kids. Keep them engaged!
Retrospect
Thanks to our busy lifestyle, we hardly have any time to introspect our lives. Many of us never looked back into their lives. Take this as an opportunity to evaluate your life; how it has been over the past few years, or what you wish to change going forward.
Family time
Though members of a family stay under the same roof, kids are busy with schools while adults are running around with their professional commitments. When was the last time you had a meal together? Take these three weeks as an opportunity to have meals together. Discuss how you will overcome this challenge as a family! Assure each other that you have got their backs! Do all this while maintaining a safe distance.
Rearrange your wardrobe
After the advent of wardrobes, people started stocking them up with clothes and other items. Many of us never bothered to rearrange the stuff. You will find a lot of useless things stored in your wardrobes. Take out time to put things in order, dust the shelves, and discard the useless stuff.
Spend time reading
As reading has become almost obsolete with the advent of gadgets, book lovers can make use of this time to dust their books. Take out the books that you have bought during book fairs. Start reading them. E-books can come to your rescue if you do not have enough books stacked up.
