Heavy rain leads to landslides, water-logging in West Bengal

Severe water-logging and landslides were reported in parts of Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling following incessant rainfall in the area. Work is underway to clear the blocked roads.

Jalpaiguri (West Bengal): Severe water-logging was reported in several areas of Jalpaiguri on Thursday following consistent heavy rains for the past couple of days.

The incessant rainfall has also resulted in multiple landslides on National Highway 31 and National Highway 10 near Sevoke in Darjeeling.

Work is underway to clear the blocked roads.

Heavy rainfall results in water-logging

According to the Met department, districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar received heavy rains.

IMD has predicted very heavy rainfall in parts of north-east India, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next two-three days.

According to the IMD, the sky will generally be cloudy along with rains till September 27 in both Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling.

The temperature in this region would oscillate between 24 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius.
