Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): The four accused in Hathras rape and murder case have written a letter to SP Hathras Vineet Jaiswal claiming their innocence and seeking justice.
The letter was written by the accused, Sandeep, Ramu, Lavkush and Ravi which also bears their thumb impression.
Sandeep, the main accused has said that he was not involved in the sexual assault on the 19-year-old girl and added that he knew the victim and was in touch with her. Sandeep also said that the girl's mother and brother are responsible for her death.
In the letter, Sandeep has also mentioned that he and the other accused have neither raped nor beat the victim.
While stating about the victim, accused Sandeep has written that he was friends with the victim and used to have phone conversations with the victim.
The accused have further stated that they have been jailed on false charges.

According to the letter, the mother and the brother of the victim do not approve of the friendship between them and on the day of the incident the victim was badly beaten by her mother and brother.
The victim was badly injured following which she succumbed to her injuries on September 29.
The accused have also demanded a fair trial in the case.
Meanwhile, a three-member SIT is investigating the case. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has recommended a CBI probe in the matter.
When ETV Bharat spoke to SP Hathras Vineet Jaiswal about the letter, he said that he has not received the letter yet. However, the jail administration has confirmed that the four accused have written a letter to Hathras SP which has been sent to him.
Hathras has been in the news following the death of a 19-year-old Dalit woman who was allegedly gang-raped on September 14 in a village in the district.
The 19-year-old Hathras woman died at Delhi's Safdarjung hospital on September 29. All four accused in the incident have been arrested.
Her cremation at night by the authorities, allegedly without the parents' consent, has triggered widespread outrage.
