Gurugram: Three shooters and two cops sustained injuries after an encounter broke out near Saapki Nangli village in Sohna Tuesday late evening. According to initial reports, three miscreants were headed towards eliminating a property dealer in Sohna's Dhunela village. Each of them carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on their head.
Acting on a tip-off, the Gurugram crime team (sector-39) headed by Sub Inspector Raj Kumar chased the gangster team. The shooters started firing and the police retaliated. Amid multiple rounds of firing, two shooters got sprayed with bullets on their legs and one of them lost his balance on the bike, leaving him grievously injured. The cops were wearing bulletproof jackets.
The three shooters have been identified as Rajesh, Kamal and Aman. Rajesh alone has 18 criminal cases registered against him.
Two head constables Sunil and Abhilash were also injured in the gunfight and are undergoing treatment at Sohna hospital. Police have seized two revolvers, two pistols, 110 cartridges, indigenous pistol and a motorcycle from the gangsters' possession.

"The trio was involved in many criminal cases in the past. Cases of theft, robbery, attempt to murder and murder charges are also levelled against them. A reward of Rs 2 lakh and an appreciation letter has been announced for the police team for their brave act. The arrested miscreants had an active nexus in the area and used to extract money in the name of Gujjar," a police official added.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered and efforts are underway to arrest other miscreants of the gang if any.
