Surat (Gujarat): At a time when the country is witnessing widespread protests against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), a couple in Gujarat's Surat tied the knot while asserting their support for the legislation.

"I support CAA, but certain anti-national elements in the country are trying to spread rumours against the Act by terming it anti-minority. This is a humble attempt to spread awareness on CAA," said Rohit Gadodia, who was getting married to Abhilasha.
Apart from taking a stand on a socio-political issue on their wedding day, the couple also decided to have a cow and her calf as special guests on their special day.

"We have decided to have a cow and a calf as special guests on my wedding day...and I wanted the wedding procession to be lead by a cow, " said Gadodia.
Rohit his pursuing his Ph.D. in Business Administration, while Abhilasha is a Charted Accountant.

Surat : The marriage ceremony in the Surat city attracted attention of all, as the bridegroom had Mehndi in his hands for support of CAA. Not only that, he reached the Mandap of the marriage with a cow and calves in a procession and they stayed there during the ceremony of the marriage. The bride and the bridegroom solemnized their marriage with seven sacred rounds of Yagnavedi in the presense of the mother cow and calves.
Thus the marriage between Rohit and Abhilasha had become the talk of the town. Rohit, the bridegroom had designed the Mehndi in his hand in support of CAA and with that message he rode the procession to the place of his bride.
Bridegroom’s wedding procession was led by none other then mother cow and her calves. They were at the marriage ceremony as the chief guest in keeping with the Vedic rituals.
Rohit said that there were lot of misinformation regarding the new law CAA, so he wanted to spread the awareness and he choose the occasion of his marriage for the purpose. He wanted people to be aware about the CAA and so he chose to have Mehndi design in such a fashion.
His father Rampal Gadodiya is originally from Rajsathan and lives on Bhatar Road of the Surat city. He was engaged with Abhilasha, daughter of Madanlal Todi, who lives in Vesu area of the city. They got married on 3rd February.
Rohit his doing his Ph.D. in Business Administration, while Abhilasha is Charted Accountant. The families of Rampal and Madanlal are well known to each other as they are in Textile Business. Their friendship now turned into relationship and on the occasion of their children’s marriage they decided to follow Vedic rituals and wanted to spread the message of Indian culture. So they decided to have ceremony in presence of sacred cow.
To save the environment they also took care to arrange 5,000 glasses made of clay, so not to use plastic glasses. As they reached near the wedding venue a mother cow and two calves were joined in the procession to lead it to Mandapam. They were first ushred into Mandap and after their ritual welcome bridegroom followed in the Mandapam.
Rampal, father of the bridegroom, said that they wanted to highlight the Vedic rituals and so they tooked many vowed for good and healthy life. Mother cow and calves remained present as 31 Vedic practioners completed the Panigrahi (wedding) rituals.
As per Rajsthani tradition wedding ceremony is held during night, but the families choose to have it in the evening. Also the Axat rituals, which is the tradition in Marathi family also followed by there Rajsthani families.
The gifts received during wedding were donated to institurions working for the benefit of the nation. The bride and bridegroom also decided not to waste money on pre-wedding shoot and other such vanities. Instead they tried to give message for the protection of the environment and spread the tradition of Vedic rituals.
