New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday observed that grievances against the judicial system could be conveyed in better language while hearing a plea by a lawyer who was stripped of his designation as 'senior advocate'.
Yatin Oza had moved the Supreme Court challenging the Gujarat High Court's decision to withdraw the Senior Advocate designation earlier conferred on him.
The court had initiated a criminal contempt proceeding against Oza, who is the president of the Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association, for certain remarks he had made on the court.
The apex court bench led by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul today observed that grievances can be conveyed in a better language, systems can be groomed and imputations must not be made.
As a leader of the bar, Oza has a greater duty and should be a model for a younger generation, the court observed.
Oza assured the court that he would not repeat his mistake again and added that he realises the gravity of his mistake.
The apex court ordered the high court to consider Oza's apology and said that it expects the matter to be disposed of in two weeks. The matter will again be heard on August 26.
