New Delhi: The opposition parties have decided to take on the government regarding various issues including Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), Naga Accord, Economic slowdown and others in the forthcoming winter session of the Parliament commencing from November 18.
In an exclusive interview to ETV Bharat, the CPI general secretary D Raja said that if the government to take any initiative to pass the CAB with their majority in the Parliament, his party will oppose such move.
D Raja further said, "NRC is in first priority, as we are against this controversial bill from the beginning. The Entire Northeastern states are in turmoil especially Manipur. We should be sensitive to their condition. The Northeast, being a strategic region, we hope for the good from Narendra Modi and his Government."
Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur have been strongly opposing the bill which intends to give Indian citizenship status to the minority people (minus Muslim) from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
"Nobody knows what is there in the Naga Accord...what transpired between Naga interlocutor RN Ravi and Nagala groups. Everyone is talking about territorial integrity. So, the government must take the Parliament and Legislators into confidence," Raja said.

In fact, a 15 member Congress delegation from Manipur headed by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has already been campaigning in the national capital against the CAB.
Besides this, the delegation has also demanded to make the Naga peace accord public.
The delegation headed by Singh met D Raja on November 15.
They are likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the same issues.
Meanwhile, people from these three Northeastern states are opposing any sort of compromise on the territorial integrity of their states in Naga peace accord.
However, speaking on the other issues, Raja said that economic slowdown is another major concern.
Hence, the opposition would grill the government to find out the appropriate step regarding this.

"We need a discussion on the economic slowdown. We will also raise abrogation of Article 370 from J&K and its follow-up during the winter session," said Raja.
He further said, "North-West India is already in tension...they (government) should not create problem in Northeast too."
He criticised the way President Rule was imposed in Maharastra.
"We will raise the issue of how President Rule was imposed in Maharastra. Farmers' death, attack on students will also be raised in the Parliament session," said Raja.
The winter session of the Parliament will start from November 18 and it will continue till December 13.
"We would seek the support of all opposition parties to be united to put pressure on the government," said Raja.
