Govt extends suspension of domestic, int'l flights till May 3

Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the extension of the lockdown, the Ministry of Civil Aviation informed that airline operations of all domestic and international flights will remain suspended till May 3.

New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Ministry on Tuesday said all international and domestic commercial passenger flights will remain suspended till midnight of May 3.

The decision comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the lockdown across the country will be extended till May 3 to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Domestic and international commercial passenger flights were earlier suspended from March 25 to April 14.

"All domestic and international scheduled airlines operation shall remain suspended till 11.59 pm of 3rd May 2020," the ministry tweeted.

Earlier today, in his address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the country will remain under lockdown till May 3 to contain the COVID-19 spread.

Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry had already announced the extension of the lockdown.

India's total number of coronavirus positive cases has climbed to 10,363 including 8,988 active cases, and 339 deaths, the Health Ministry said today.
