New Delhi: Communist Party of India (CPI) MP in the Rajya Sabha Binoy Viswam on Wednesday accused BJP led central government of behaving in an autocratic way.

"The government is running the business in an autocratic way. There is no opposition in the House but the government is running its business," said Viswam.

The opposition leaders organised a protest march in the Parliament premises and staged a protest against the functioning of the government.

Viswam said that the opposition parties never get a chance to speak or raise any issue in the House.

"The BJP government has violated the democratic values in the House. The government never allows the opposition to speak," said Viswam.

He said that a Parliament functions properly only when the opposition also has a say.

"We also condemn the role of the deputy chairman. The deputy chairman always keeps on looking towards the ruling party in the Parliament. He is just a kind of tool for the government," said Viswam.

As a mark of protest against the Agriculture Reform Bills, the opposition parties have boycotted the proceedings of the House.

The opposition leaders are also going to meet President Ramnath Kovind at 5 PM Wednesday to lodge their protest.

"We hope that the President will reject the Bill," said Viswam.

Interestingly, opposition parties have written a letter to Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkiah Naidu asking him not to pass the three labour related bills in Rajya Sabha in the absence of the opposition party MPs.

It may be mentioned here that Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die on Wednesday.
