New Delhi: President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said that the government has efficiently dealt with the covid-19 pandemic and related distress it caused to the people of India.
Addressing the budget session of Parliament, President said, "Government has introduced many schemes to uplift all sectors of people who have suffered hard during the pandemic."
"I am satisfied that the timely decision taken by my Government saved the lives of lakhs of citizens. Today the number of new COVID cases is going down rapidly. The number of recoveries is very high," he added.
Earlier, President condoled the deaths of Parliament members including that of former President Pranab Mukherjee.
The nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16, 2021. Termed as the world's largest vaccination program, covering the entire length and breadth of the country, the drive aims to first vaccinate millions of its healthcare and frontline workers and reach an estimated 3 crore people by the end of its first phase.
