GoM takes stock of India's prevailing situation over COVID-19

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday headed a meeting of the Group of Ministers and reviewed the prevailing situation in India following the novel coronavirus pandemic. The meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, CDS General Bipin Rawat and several other officials.

New Delhi: A meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan was held on Friday in order to review the prevailing situation in India following the outbreak of the pandemic.

This was the 12th meeting ever since the GoM was set up to monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials confirmed that the meeting took place for more than two hours.

"We had a two-hour-long discussion on the progress made so far in tackling the spread of the deadly virus and also discussed the way ahead in India's fight against the disease that originated from China's Wuhan province," officials said.

Officials further maintained that the meeting also discussed the steps taken for procuring critical medical supplies, testing kits, reagents, enzymes, PPE and other material.

External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Chaubey, CDS General Bipin Rawat, Health Secretary Dr Preeti Sudan and several other officials were present in the meeting.
