Ghaziabad: Workers of the leading Lift and Manufacturing Company - ECE took out a protest on Sunday against the company's decision to cut the salaries and allowances up to 30% on account of the economic slowdown in view of the coronavirus crisis. The protestors carried banners and raised slogans outside the factory main gate.

The workers claimed that they also held meetings with the various company officials but the management is adamant about their decision. A leading manufacturer of spare parts, the higher authorities of ECE company are tight-lipped on the matter and have refused to comment on the same.

"The company is creating pressure on its employees that it will do salary cuts. Pay cut started in April, hence we are protesting against it. They are not ready to listen to us and now we have been asked to leave the premises," complained one of the employees.

He added, "I am associated with this company for the past 25 years but still my salary is just Rs 18,000. If the company will cut 30% of our salary, how are we going to survive?"

Another worker said, "Not only the management has decided to deduct our salaries, but all our annual leaves have also lapsed. We have been requesting the higher authorities to consider our plea but they have turned a deaf ear. It's not possible to survive with this small amount. We have been asked to vacate the factory building."

It may be recalled that Atlas Cycle had shut its last manufacturing unit in Sahibabad on World Bicycle Day, citing lack of funds to run the factory and employees claimed that the unit was shut without notice.
