Tamil Nadu/Sri Lanka: Vetrivel, father of Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict Murugan, died on Monday at a hospital in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna. The 75-year-old had been suffering from cancer for over a year.
Murugan, who is serving a life sentence at Vellore Central Prison, was informed about his father’s demise by the prison authorities.

Earlier, the convict had requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami to allow him to see his ailing father via video call from the prison.
