In view of security & traffic arrangements for Republic Day & proposed Tractor Rally, Commuters will face traffic disruptions on National Highway between Karnal to Delhi & Rohtak to Delhi from January 25 to January 27, informed Haryana Police.

Traffic on KMP-KGP Expressway will also be impacted & interchanges at Kundli, Assaudha & Badli will not be accessible to traffic movement on these dates. Therefore, all commuters are being advised not to use these routes on these dates, to avoid any inconvenience, police said.

25,000 farmers to lead protest rally to Bengaluru on Tuesday

About 25,000 farmers from across Karnataka would lead a protest rally on Tuesday to Bengaluru from Nelamangla on the city's outskirts in support of their counterparts' tractor rally to New Delhi against the three farmers' laws, said state's farmers leader K. Chandrashekar on Sunday.

"We have sought police permission to lead the protest rally in 10,000 tractors to Freedom Park in the city from Nelamangla in solidarity with our colleagues in the northern region who are going to Delhi in thousands of tractors, seeking repeal of the three anti-farmers laws," Chandrashekar told reporters here.

As the farmers' protest rally on Tuesday coincides with the 72nd Republic Day celebrations, police advised them to avoid tractors, which would choke the highway and roads in the city, inconveniencing the public.

Kamal Nath leads tractor rally against farm laws in Indore

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Sunday led a tractor rally here in Depalpur to express solidarity with the farmers against the recently enacted central farm laws.

Kamal Nath reached Depalpur by helicopter and took darshan at Lakshminarayan temple and subsequently participated in a tractor rally along with fellow Congress members.

While speaking to media, Nath said, "Yesterday, the government used administration and police to bulldoze farmers' voice in Bhopal. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not understanding that farmers form the biggest group in India."

"The privatisation of the farm sector through these three black laws will spell destruction in the country," he added.

Extend ex-gratia benefits to all 162 martyr farmers: NGO

Urging the Central government to consider all martyred 162 farmers for ex-gratia benefits, the Punjab Cultural Council (PCC) on Sunday said it has written to the Union Agricultural Minister to repeal 'black' farm laws and extend ex-gratia benefits to all 162 martyr farmers.

It has also asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to give personal intervention, thereby, helping the farmers at Delhi borders with proactive support.

In the letter, PCC chairman Harjeet Singh Grewal and vice chairman Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa said Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have already lost 149 lives during protests at the Delhi borders since November 25.

In addition, 13 farmers have sacrificed their lives in Punjab during 'rail roko' stir since September 2019.

30 social organisations of Gurugram to join tractor rally on R-Day

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Sunday announced that more than 30 social organisations of Gurugram will join farmers' tractor parade on the occasion of Republic Day in the city.

SKM president Chaudhary Santokh Singh said, "It will be a 'historical' Tractor Parade on a historical day. Hundreds of tractors with the national flag will be part of the tractor parade in Gurugram."

Two days before the Republic Day celebration, Delhi police on Sunday made a revelation that over 300 Twitter handles were created from Pakistan from January 13 to 18 to disturb farmers' tractor rally.

"Through intelligence and various other agencies, we have continuously been getting inputs regarding the threat to create disturbance in the tractor rally. 308 Twitter handles have been generated from Pakistan to create confusion," Dependra Pathak, Special CP, Delhi Police said during a press conference.

Special Commissioner of Police (CP), Intelligence in Delhi Police, Dependra Pathak on Sunday said that three routes have been determined for the farmer leaders' tractor rally from three border points of Delhi. 

"The tractor rally will enter Delhi from Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur borders and return to its originating points. From Singhu, it will pass through Kanjhawala, Bawana, Auchandi border, KMP Expressway and then return to Singhu," Pathak told reporters at a press conference.

Protesting farmers affix 'black laws' banners on NH signboards

Thousands of farmers who have been protesting at multiple Delhi borders against the Centre's new farm laws, have now put up banners reading "repeal the farm laws" on the National Highway signboards.

Farmers from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, who are also the part of the protesters camping on the Ghazipur border, have also put up posters against the government and their organisation, at the site.

On National Highways 24 and 9, adjacent to the border, the farmers' banners affixed to the signboards read: "Shoo away corporates, save the country and take back black laws".

Farmers' stir: Preparations on for Jan 26 tractor rally

New Delhi: As the farmers' agitation at the Delhi borders entered the 60th day on Sunday, all eyes are on the farmers' tractor rally on the Republic Day.

The farmers sitting at the Ghazipur, Singhu and Tikri borders have been making preparations for the tractor rally.

Joginder Singh, the farmer leader of Punjab's Malwa region and President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Ugrahan), said more farmers were marching towards Delhi along with their tractors from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and other provinces of the country to take part in the tractor rally.

"Volunteers have been assigned specific works for the farmers' parade", he said, adding that more than one lakh tractors were ready to take part in the parade, and women too would march to Delhi in open trolleys.

The leaders said they were making preparations to carry out the farmers Republic Parade on the outer ring road within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Punjab farmer leader and General Secretary of the BKU, Parminder Singh Pal Majra, said lakhs of farmers would participate in the rally. He informed that this rally would take place within a radius of 100 km in the NCR.

The farmer unions have clearly said they would carry out the tractor rally in a peaceful manner.

Earlier, the unions held talks with the Delhi Police on Saturday where the former claimed to have taken permission to carry out a tractor rally, while the police said the talks were in final stages.

The farmers have been demanding a repeal of the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020, implemented by the Central government last year as well as the legal guarantee for the procurement of crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The farmers have been sitting on protest at the Delhi borders since November 26 last year.

The farmers' unions have held 11-rounds of talks with the Central government so far.
