New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Saturday said that farmers' movement is no longer for the farmers but for the political leaders behind the agitation. He added that the Punjab and Haryana farmers want to protest but they are further encouraged by the opposition parties.
Hussain in an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat said that the agitation has now lost its direction and the parties behind them are using them for their propaganda and politics.
Saying that today's scheduled chakka jam was a complete failure, Shahnawaz said it proves that farmers are with the government.
"The government is doing everything possible to persuade them, but there are some unions in Punjab and Haryana and some in UP which are not letting the farmers make an informed decision," he said.
He further asked on what basis is the agitations being held, when the government has even said that it can withdraw the law for 2 years. The farmers should come with the government and talk to them. I hope that the farmers will move away from their stubbornness and come and talk with the government, the BJP minister added.

Accusing the opposition of using the farmers for their own gains, Hussain said that the opposition parties don't debate the laws in the parliament, they also don't discuss them but are using them to politicise the issue for their gains.
"If the opposition parties have so much sympathy with the farmers, then why do they not stay in Parliament and raise their demands, why not let Parliament run," he asked.
Further explaining the Modi government is taking care of all other fronts he said that the opposition's statement that there is unrest in other parts of the country is untrue.
