New Delhi: Farmer Unions are planning to intensify protests against the three Farm Reform Acts recently enacted by the Modi government.

Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee's (AIKSCC) call for Delhi Gherao on November 26, 27 was accepted by unions from across the country. Thousands of farmers are expected to arrive in the national capital on the scheduled dates.

Meanwhile, the state units of AIKSCC ave also started activating their network of farmers to organise agitations in the states against the three acts.

A meeting of as many as 34 farmer unions united under the banner of AIKSCC was held in Haryana's Rohtak on Tuesday. Union leader who attended the meeting not only accepted the call for Delhi march but announced a farmers' awareness campaign in every village of the state starting from November 1, the day which is observed as Haryana Day.

The meeting held in Haryana was conducted in the presence of Co-Convener of the AIKSCC Yogendra Yadav and member of National Working group Prem Singh Gahlawat.

AIKSCC will decide the scale of two-day protest in the national capital in its meeting scheduled on October 27, informed Sardar VM Singh, Convener of AIKSCC.

"As we know that COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet and in this situation any large gathering involves risk. We will discuss on the scale of participation in our next meeting but there will be participation from every state unit" said the farmers' leader.

Citing studies which say stubble burning is not alone responsible for the air pollution in Delhi, AIKSCC slammed the state governments for blaming farmers.

The federation of Farmer Unions suggested the government perform its task rather than blaming farmers.

AIKSCC also demanded to quash the FIRs registered against the protesting farmers.

Sources suggest that Farmer Unions from across the country will be demanding from State governments to call a special session of the assembly and enact legislation for guaranteed purchase on MSP as Punjab Government did on Tuesday.
