Krishnagiri: A farmer in Tamil Nadu has spent one lakh rupees to bury a bull he loved and cared for in the district of Krishnagiri.

Forty-year-old Chinnappa of Poonapalli village had named his bull 'Kariyan' and its death had caused him intense sadness.

Chinnappa bought the bull for use on agricultural fields and to participate in the traditional bull-fighting or Jallikattu competitions in the state.

Kariyan emerged victorious in two bull-taming events, he said. Saddened villagers in Poonapalli also paid their respects to the bull.

Chinnappa said that he loved Kariyan as if it was his own child and its death caused intense grief.
