New Delhi: A five-member fact-finding team from different organisations, after visiting Jammu and Kashmir, has accused the central government of violating human rights in the region.
The fact-finding team comprising Syeda Hameed (Muslim Women's Forum), Annie Raja (National Federation of Indian Women-NFIW), Poonam Kaushik (Pragatisheel Mahila Samiti), Kawaljeet Kaur and Pankhuri Zaheer (NFIW) visited Kashmir valley from September 17 to 21.
"We have found severe human rights violations meted by the government in the region," said Annie Raja on Monday.
The team would be releasing its fact-finding report in New Delhi on Tuesday.
This fact-finding report is coming against Centre's claim that everything is getting normal in J&K.
"There is no normalcy. The government is lying. The most affected are the schools and colleges. We gave seen that security forces have made their camps in school and colleges. Even the shops are not opening in the valley," said Annie Raja.
Ever since Article 370 has been abrogated from Jammu and Kashmir, this is the first such visit of a fact-finding women team.
"We have interacted with 100 of college students, doctors, businessmen and what we have found is that nothing is normal in the valley now," said Raja.
The findings of the team directly contradict the Government's claim of normalcy in J&K. Even, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has recently claimed that 'all is well in J&K'.
