Exclusive: Pakistan's game is up, claims Former Ambassador Vishnu Prakash

New Delhi: Rejecting Pakistan's chest-beating on the issue of Kashmir at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Tuesday, former Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson and ambassador to Canada Vishnu Prakash hinted that Pakistan's argument doesn't stand validated due to its track record.

Taking a dig at Pakistan Foreign Minister's speech, the former MEA spokesperson said, "I found Qureshi's speech at UNHRC very amusing. He had no moral courage to raise his head. His head was down throughout. He was racing through his speech as if he had to get out of there."

Prakash hailed India's response to Shah Mehmood's charges at UNHRC where he accused Indian forces of committing a human rights violation in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, "India's response was very brief, crisp and mature. It was reflective of the nation that India is, a democratic and confident nation. All we have to do is set the record straight because what India has on its side is fact and reality and what Pakistan has on its side is fiction."

In a powerful rebuttal of Islamabad's claims, India accused Pakistan of giving hysterical statements and false narratives to politicise the UNHRC forum.

On Qureshi's claims of possible genocide in Jammu and Kashmir, India's first Secretary at UNHRC Vimarsh Aryan who also hails from the valley said, "Pakistan realises that our decision cuts away the ground from under its feet by creating obstacles in its continuing sponsorship of cross border terrorism."

Not only this, but he also accused Pakistani leadership of encouraging Jihad by creating a picture of genocide which is far from reality.
