New Delhi: In a recent development, Alok Joshi has been appointed in the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB)- one of the three arms of the country's national security management.
Sources who are closely associated with the development have exclusively spoken to ETV Bharat and confirmed the reports.
The appointment of former chief of Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW) and chairman of National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) has brought in a significant development in the country's national security establishment.
The central government has been notably expanding the board(NSAB) since last December and has also expanded the scope of work for the agency.
Joshi's inclusion is being seen as a major booster for NSAB, especially in the country's national security establishment.
Our sources revealed that all the appointments are being made under the supervision of Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor (NSA). Ranging from diplomats to chiefs from R&AW, IB, NTRO, the NSAB is now backed by specialised professionals from all fields.
In December, former diplomat Amar Shah, ex-IB chief Asif Ibrahim, Tilak Devesher, a former R&AW officer was included in the board. Soon after, former deputy chief of Indian Army Lt Gen Subrata Saha was also taken on board in January.
Over the years India's national security establishment has been restructured on the recommendations of a task force headed by KC Pant during the government of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
With the task force's recommendations, a three-tier security structure has been made including National Security Council (NSC) headed by Prime Minister, the Strategic Policy Group and National Security Advisory Board.
