New Delhi: Retired military brass on Tuesday congratulated the Indian Air Force for striking terror bases in Pakistan on Tuesday.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Colonel (Retd) RD Sharma said, "First of all I would like to congratulate Indian Air Force for a wonderful job done. It was wonderfully planned. Element of surprises is a major factor in any victory. There was no loss of men or material and all our planes have come back safe.”

He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving freedom as well as support to the armed forces to strike back after Pulwama terror attack.

ETV Bharat correspondent speaks to ex-servicemen

“I want to congratulate our Prime Minister who has been giving all the support and all the encouragement to the armed forces. He has taken entirely new leaf out of the policy towards Pakistan and terrorism which hasn't been seen before in this country."

Hitting out at Pakistan, the ex-serviceman said that India's neighbour is not in a position to retaliate.

He said, "Pakistan is not in a position to retaliate. They know their capabilities. After our PM announced that each and every death will be avenged, Pakistan's PM Imran Khan has finally accepted to cooperate. This was our aim as we are not a war monger country. We never attacked any other country. We only want to protect our areas and we are totally against terrorism.”

The IAF bombed Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM) biggest training camp at Balakot in early hours of Tuesday. Within hours, Pakistan threatened a "befitting response". The air raid came 12 days after a JeM suicide bomber killed 40 CRPF troopers near Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.
