New Delhi: In less than a year of foraying into the digital media world, ETV Bharat - a comprehensive digital national news platform conceived by Ramoji Group Chairman Ramoji Rao was acknowledged as the 'Best Digital News Start-up' at the South Asian Digital Media Awards, 2019, presented by the World Association of Newspaper and Publishers (Wan-Ifra).
The award was received by Brihathi Cherukuri, Director, ETV Bharat, at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The award ceremony is being held on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the two-day Digital Media India (DMI) conference, 2020.
While 'The Wire English' has bagged gold in the best digital news start-up category, 'The Federal' has won silver, and ETV Bharat has been honoured with bronze in the same category.
Wan-Ifra is a global media organisation representing over 3,000 publishing houses and 18,000 publications in 120 countries.
The awards are intended to recognise media institutions that come up with new solutions for an audience tuning in to digital and mobile platforms.
This award is yet another feather added to its cap, as ETV Bharat had bagged the coveted International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), 2019 Innovation Award under the 'Content Everywhere' category on September 13, 2019, at Amsterdam.
Outsmarting 180 competitors including Facebook and Deutsche Telekom, ETV Bharat emerged victorious in the convention and was adjudged as the “Number one News app at massive scale” by the IBC.
International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) is a London-based media, entertainment and technology show.
ETV Bharat was launched on March 21, 2019, and aims at delivering seamless news and information services, through a video-centric web portal and mobile application.

It is a first-of-its-kind offering in India in terms of content diversity and depth.
With a dedicated network of journalists, the portal reaches 24 states with services in 13 languages including – Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Assamese, Odia and English.
