Engineer teaches music for Rupee 1 in Bengaluru

An engineer is teaching music for a relatively low price in Bengaluru. He teaches guitar flute and keyboard to all, all for a measly Rupee 1.

Bengaluru: S. V. Rao studied engineering and worked in top corporate companies. He used to handle huge construction projects and earn lakhs of rupees as salary. But, Rao gave up all of these and started teaching music for street children, blinds, and old people. He teaches guitar, flute, keyboard to all of them.

Hyderabad-based Rao, takes music classes in nearby Sheshadripuram college, Cubbon park, JP Nagar and various other places of the city. He has students in various parts of the state.

He has dedicated his life to music. Many honours and prizes of government and various associations came looking for him for his work. In spite of all this, he lives in a streetside house along with his blind daughter and wife.

At, 60 years of age, Rao has many students across states. He says his daughter is an inspiration for this service. He wishes the whole country could practice music, which is a beautiful form of meditation. Just like Swachh Bharat, he says the country must become a "music Bharat". He serves the weaker section of the society and pledged to spend his life and whatever wealth he earns towards the welfare of blind children.
