Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir): Security forces neutralised a terrorist in an encounter which broke out at Larnoo area in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday.
According to sources, two or three terrorists were believed to be trapped.
"An encounter begins at Larnoo area of Anantnag. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation," Kashmir Zone Police had earlier tweeted.
The firefight between terrorists and security forces took place after security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
"Encounter has started at Larnoo area of Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job," police said.

Earlier on October 14, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Chakura area of the Shopian district.
On October 12, two terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter in Rambagh area of Srinagar.
On October 10, two terrorists were neutralised and another one was arrested in an encounter at the Dadoora area of Pulwama.
