New Delhi: An Election Commission (EC) team will be on a three-day-tour in West Bengal from Thursday, during which they will be holding meetings regarding assembly polls due next year in the state.
Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain is likely to be in the team accompanied by other officers.
As per information, he will be holding a meeting with senior election officials of the state to review the situation and on December 17, he is scheduled to hold a meeting with district magistrates, superintendents of police and commissioners of police in central Kolkata.
The meeting is expected to commence from 11 am. The deputy election commissioner would also be holding a meeting with Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, Home Secretary HK Dwivedi, Health Secretary NS Nigam and Director General of Police Virendra.
On December 18, Jain is likely to hold a meeting at Malda in the morning and there will be another meeting on the same day in the evening in Siliguri.
There was a video conference between Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bengal along with all district magistrates on Monday in which all aspects of the ongoing correction in the electoral roll were assessed. The amount of work supposed to get completed by December 15 was ascertained.

Before deputy election commissioner Sudeep Jain's visit to Kolkata, a BJP delegation on Tuesday moved Election Commission for early deployment of central armed forces in Bengal “in the wake of violence ahead of the assembly polls”.
Days after vehicles of senior BJP leaders JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya's convoys were allegedly attacked in West Bengal, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation raised the issue of law and order situation in the state with Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora.
"We have asked EC that considering the extraordinary circumstances in West Bengal, model code of conduct (MCC) should be applied at the earliest," said Swapan Dasgupta, BJP MP from Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
