The 83-year-old has been vociferously campaigning for his son Sunny Deol, who is contesting from Gurdaspur on a BJP ticket.

Earlier, Dharmendra had said that he would not have allowed his son to contest from Gurdaspur, had he known that he is pitted against Congress MP Sunil Jakhar.

In 2004, the veteran actor had refused to contest the Lok Sabha elections against Balram Jakhar from Churu in Rajasthan. That year he won the polls from Bikaner.
