Haryana: Haryana Congress president Kumari Selja on Wednesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged paddy scam in Haryana while pointing towards a nexus between the Bharatiya Janta Party-led state government and rice millers.
"Haryana government has itself admitted that more than 40,000 tonnes of paddy is missing. They are also admitting that not only rice millers but the workers are also involved in the scam. It is not possible without their involvement. How did all this happen? Was the government asleep or is it involved in the scam?, " said Selja.
"We don't even demand a CBI inquiry because we are all well aware of how it functions. That's why we demand a judicial inquiry. We demand an independent probe. I believe that the scam is much bigger than it is being projected, "added the Congress leader.
Taking a dig at the ruling BJP with respect to the differences between Haryana Chief Manohar Lal Khattar and Home Minister Anil Vij over ownership of state's Criminal Investigation Department, Selja said, "Nobody knows who the government belongs to. Everyone seems to be clueless as to who is running the government. If you don't know whom CID belongs to, will you bring another CID to probe whom the department needs to report to."

The state police's Criminal Investigation Department or CID, which was reporting to Home Minister Anil Vij, was on Tuesday asked to work under the Chief Minister, according to the state assembly portal.
