New Delhi: Amid the border standoff with China, the Delhi Hotels and Restaurant Owners Association (DHROA) on Thursday announced that no Chinese nationals will be accommodated in Delhi's hotels.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sandeep Khandelwal, President, Delhi Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association, said, "We have decided that no Chinese will be allowed accommodation in Delhi's hotels and guest houses and we shall also be contacting Hotel Associations of other states to make similar decisions."
He further said that Delhi has about 3000 budget hotels and guest houses with about 75,000 rooms and we have decided that we will not be using any made in China products like kitchen accessories, cutleries, decorative items, etc.
"The manner in which the Chinese army is behaving with Indian forces at the borders which has resulted into killing of 20 Indian soldiers, the hotel industry is deeply upset and having a gross resentment against China and therefore we joined the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) campaign of boycotting Chinese goods," added DHROA president.
CAIT National President B.C. Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal while welcoming the decision of the Hotels Association said that with such decision it is quite evident that people from all all walks of life are more willing to join the campaign of the CAIT to end the dependency on China.
They said this time, the people of India are determined to teach a lesson to China and by December 2021, the traders along with the people of India will reduce the imports from China to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore.
